Module 4 – Professional Practice

To ensure that students have acquired relevant knowledge of professional practice to enable them to work with the public effectively and safely, and remaining within the scope of their professional practice.

Learning Outcomes

1. The Therapeutic Relationship
Develop an understanding of building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients, focusing on trust, empathy, communication, and professional boundaries.

 

2. Consultation and Treatment Planning
Learn how to conduct thorough client consultations, assess individual needs, and create personalized treatment plans that align with therapeutic goals.

 

3. Reflective Practice
Cultivate skills in reflective practice to continuously assess personal and professional growth, improve treatment outcomes, and ensure high-quality client care.

 

4. Working Practices and Self-care
Establish effective working practices that support professional ethics, boundaries, and self-care, promoting sustainable work habits and mental well-being.

5. Hygiene, Health, and Safety
Understand the importance of maintaining high standards of hygiene, health, and safety in therapeutic environments, ensuring compliance with regulations and creating a safe space for both therapists and clients.

 

6. Complementary Therapies and Allopathic Medicine
Gain insight into how complementary therapies can work alongside conventional allopathic medicine, emphasizing integrative approaches to holistic health and wellness.

*Guided Learning Hours (GLH): include an estimate of the time allocated to contact hours with the tutor, this could be in the classroom, via zoom or other means of structured learning time i.e., directed assignments, assessments or other means of supportive individual study and practice. For each contact teaching hour, 1 to 3 hours are added for self-study hours. 

 

*Self-Study Hours (SSH): includes the hours a learner independently studies which include revision, portfolio, research, web search, reflective practice, projects, case studies etc.
